Four Gophers Players Honored
Four members of the University of Minnesota football team have been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team, as voted on by the conference's media members.
The Gophers' four honorees are:
- Tanner Morgan, quarterback
- Daniel Faalele, offensive tackle
- Boye Mafe, defensive end
- Mohamed Ibrahim, running back
Morgan, a redshirt junior, is entering his third season as the Gophers' starting quarterback. He has thrown for 5,284 yards and 33 touchdowns in his career.
Faalele, a redshirt senior, is one of the top offensive tackles in the country. He is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named to the All-American Team last season.
Mafe, a redshirt junior, is a disruptive force on the defensive line and is regarded as one of Big Ten's top pass rushers. As a redshirt sophomore in 2020, Mafe was named honorable mention All-Big Ten.
Ibrahim, a redshirt junior, is entering his fourth season of eligibility. He is one of the most productive running backs in the Big Ten. In the 2020 season, Ibrahim led the conference in rushing yards and touchdowns.
The Gophers are coming off a 3-4 season with all four losses coming by 10 or fewer points. With a number of key players returning, the Gophers are hoping to make a strong run in the Big Ten title hunt this season.
The Gophers open the season on Sept. 4 at home against Ohio State.
